Bio

The Tbone and Franny Mae Band have been delivering top-notch old school R&B and classic Motown with a healthy sprinkle of Blues in the LI/NYC metro area since 1999. Mix that in with some whimsical and quirky original material and poof !!! You have Long Island’s top act that delivers a great "get up off your ass and dance" approach to the blues and all forms of what we call "good time music". Tbone, Franny Mae and the boys are mainstays at Long Island’s top festivals, outdoor events and A level clubs.

The band is co-fronted with two special talents Tommy Tbone and Franny Mae.

tbone Riverhead 2004
Tommy Tbone is a veteran of the Long Island Music scene and has played his Telecaster in every major venue on Long Island . Always dressed dapperly and with the showmanship of a true blues pimp he delivers a laugh-first, crowd friendly approach to his entertaining craft. His throw back vocals and antics remind all of roadside juke joints and times gone by.

Ms. Franny Mae
brings over 30 years of eloquent vocal styling to the table every night she takes the stage. Her bombastic vocals simply have to be heard live and in person to grasp the depth. After taking some time off from the scene, she has bounced back with a vengeance that has to be heard.
The band’s core consists of Russell Giannotti on drums & Don Mangels on bass.
“Uncle” Russ has been playing the Long island scene since 1970 and is known as the human metronome: always tight and in time.
Don
With over 25 years of playing the Long Island music circuit, Don Mangels provides the bottom-end to the mix. Always playing his trusty '76 Fender P-bass he puts the thump in the rump. Uncle Russ and Don create the heartbeat that is at the core of the bands success.

The cherry on top of the sundae is Billy Quinn on piano and Hammond B-3. Yes...he brings a real, refrigerator size Hammond organ to every show. His tone on the Hammond is heard and felt. Billy’s flexibility allows the set list to range from 1940’s boogie-woogie jump blues to lava lamp 1970s lounge style jazz.

This mix of players and personalities gets the job done and leaves all dancing, laughing and asking where the next show is.
